Build your own Mediterranean Bowls, Gyros, and Wraps Catering

There's a lot of debate about the name "gyro" and how it should be pronounced. It's said that it can be pronounced in two ways: "JIE-row" and "YEE-row." Either way, these Mediterranean sandwiches have been around for a long time. They originate from Greece where the soldiers would use their sword to cook the meat on a fire. Thankfully, your team won’t need a sword to put together their own gyro, bowl or wrap but they’ll still be able to enjoy delicious Mediterranean flavors that have been popular for centuries! This fast, casual option has some assembly required but it is a simple and easy option for any event!

Our Menus

Here at CaterCow, we've designed our platform to make ordering easy for you. You can place an order for your whole team using our platform, and send out a poll so your team can customize their orders and make sure they have food that meets their dietary needs. If you need something more filling, most restaurants offer salads, appetizers and desserts on top of the sandwiches or bowls.

Best Practices and Tips when Ordering Build your own Mediterranean Bowls, Gyros, and Wraps

Make sure that you note all of the items in the “What’s Included” section of each package. Caution: Some packages contain only rice and salad, but might be called “Build Your Own Plates,” but there is nothing customizable about it at all considering everyone’s plates will end up looking the same. While making a sandwich seems quick and easy, it can be really messy because of the mix of hot and cold ingredients. Pita will come on the side so that each guest can make their own decisions about how they’d like to assemble their meal.

Be Mindful Of Your Headcount

Be Mindful Of Your Headcount

As with any buffet-style menu, it’s important to order for slightly more than your headcount. It’s impossible to gauge how much of each ingredient members of your team might take so it’s important to have a little bit extra to make sure that everyone is able to have a complete meal. One way to help ensure there is enough food is to put starches at the front of the line and proteins toward the end!

What is Tzatiki?

What is Tzatiki?

Tzatziki, also known as tarator or cacık, is a sauce that is widely used in the cuisines of the Balkan region and other Middle Eastern countries. It is made of yogurt mixed with cucumbers, garlic, salt and olive oil, a bit of vinegar or lemon juice and a number of common herbs – dill, mint, parsley and thyme.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make this meal vegan and gluten-free?

You should be able to! Some restaurants may have a gluten-free pita but many will not. In those cases, rice or salad can stand-in for pita. Like many other food cultures, Mediterranean food uses dairy in some of its dishes. Tzatziki is a popular spread for Greek sandwiches but it is not vegan — the sauce contains yogurt. If the restaurant offers it, tahini is a good vegan and gluten-free alternative.

What goes well with build your own Mediterranean-style bowls, wraps and gyro sandwiches?

Whether you’re having a Mediterranean-style bowl or a wrap, there are plenty of delicious sides to choose from. Popular options include hummus, Greek salad, spinach pie and souvlaki skewers.

I’m not sure how to set up the buffet. How much should I order for my team?

You should always make an effort to put the main dishes or proteins at the back of the buffet. That way, people at the front of the line won’t overload their plates with proteins. Meanwhile starches should be near the beginning of the line so that more people can get a base for their meal. If you’re worried that you might not have enough food, we recommend ordering for 10% over your headcount to account for any really hungry members of your team!

Will all the ingredients be mixed together?

No. To maintain the quality of the meal, hot and cold ingredients will be packaged separately.
