Where in the world is CaterCow? How we're working remotely for 3 months.

Our Brooklyn-based team has always appreciated traveling, whether together at offsites around the world, or individually due to our unlimited vacation policy. However, this year we decided to test out a fully remote team for the months of January, February, and March (coincidentally winter in New York).

Business will continue as usual but we'll be camped out in coffee shops, Airbnbs, and beachside cabanas. Below you can see where the team has decided to work from and why!

Where have you decided to work from remotely?

I will be spending my time in Rome, Paris, Lisbon, and Barcelona!

Why did you choose that location?

From the get-go, I knew that I wanted to spend most of time in Paris because of the awesome food / history / people. It is also a super convenient place to work from remotely because of the time difference (6 hours ahead of NYC). Rome, Lisbon, and Barcelona were a bit more impulsive, but have always been on my list of cities to visit (and are all much warmer in the winter than NYC which is a huge plus)!

What local cuisine or dish are you most excited to eat while you're there?

SEAFOOD in Lisbon - pumped to eat everything from shellfish to barnacles for breakfast / lunch / dinner.

What are you looking forward to most for the trip?

I’m most excited to experience actually living in the cities that I will be in rather than visiting as a tourist. I’m hoping it will allow me to explore slowly and not feel rushed to see everything all at once. As a huge history buff, I have a running list of must-see sites so excited to cross some off. I’m also going to be celebrating my birthday while I’m in Paris with my family which will be a blast!

Where will you work from while you're there? A local cafe? Your apt.?

Primarily, I will be working from my apartment, but will also try to squeeze a cool coffee shop here and there. Hopefully when I’m in Lisbon and Barcelona, it will be warm enough that I can even work outside by the water!

Where have you decided to work from remotely?

I'll be based out of Vermont but chasing both the sun and snow with trips planned to the beach and wherever the snow is falling.

Why did you choose that location?

It's a snowy New England break from the last 9.5 years I've spent in NYC. Not to mention great food and amazing beers.

What local cuisine or dish are you most excited to eat while you're there?

Although not local or even in the state of Vermont, I'm most excited for my new proximity to Joe Beef in Montreal. That, and poutine and sugar on snow.

What are you looking forward to most for the trip?

Keeping warm in front of the wood stove and getting acquainted with the smoker/woodfire oven that was given to me for my birthday.

Where will you work from while you're there? A local cafe? Your apt.?

Family farm overlooking the snow-covered cow pastures.

Where have you decided to work from remotely?

Boston (yeah the boring one in Massachusetts), maybe some time in the SF Bay Area, but if I get bored I'll fly somewhere else.

Why did you choose that location?

It used to be Hawaii, but I cancelled my ticket because I realized I'm no good at traveling alone (despite all the articles out there swearing that traveling alone is the best experience in the world). I know I would get so lonely and miss my girlfriend too much!

What local cuisine or dish are you most excited to eat while you're there?

Boston cream pie, New England clam chowder?? Naw, actually probably this sandwich place that I see as the Katz Delicatessen of Boston called Sam Lagrassas. Their pastrami sandwich is so insanely decadent. Coincidentally, they're actually on CaterCow: https://www.catercow.com/users/9102.

What are you looking forward to most for the trip?

Not to talk about work, but I'm actually really excited about building out our Boston market while satisfying a personal priority of living with my girlfriend (the two of us have been traveling a lot this past year). CaterCow recently launched in Boston, and I think it's incredibly important to get to know and meet our customers and caterers in person, try out our food, take real photos of our catering deliveries being set up, and witness plus fix operational hiccups firsthand. I think we've made a boat ton of progress in Boston already in the past 3 months and have amazing momentum, so I want to make sure this continues.

Where will you work from while you're there? A local cafe? Your apt.?

I'll spend my time working between my apartment, any coffee shop nearby a customer site (so that I can be close to customers receiving our catering deliveries), and the common space in WeWork South Station.

Where have you decided to work from remotely?

Oakland, LA, Seattle, Paris, Switzerland, Lisbon, then back to LA!

Why did you choose that location?

Working remotely gives me the perfect opportunity to grace the couches of my far-flung friends and family who are, of course, elated to have me.

What local cuisine or dish are you most excited to eat while you're there?

My favorites from home (b-dama in Oakland and the taco truck on the corner of W Olympic and S La Brea in LA). Then looking forward to a diet consisting mostly of cheese and carbs everywhere else. Seafood in Seattle?

What are you looking forward to most for the trip?

The people! The places! The things! And my friends and family who I normally only see 1-2 times a year and miss terribly. 1 week on their couches is plenty of time to make us miss each other a little less terribly.

Where will you work from while you're there? A local cafe? Your apt.?

Coffee shops and / or my apt., whichever gets better wifi (so probably my apartment).

Where have you decided to work from remotely:

I'll be spending time in NYC, SF, the Dominican Republic and Belize!

Why did you choose that location?

Normally I spend time between SF and NYC and I will continue to do so to meet customers and see friends/family. However, my trips to Cabarete, DR and Caye Caulker, Belize are destinations picked purely so I can work in the mornings and kiteboard in the afternoons.

What local cuisine or dish are you most excited to eat while you're there?

Conch in Belize! It looks like a cross between a slug and an alien but when in Rome...

What are you looking forward to most for the trip?

Being able to focus on solely two things: CaterCow and kiting. In the past I've had to choose between a 100% kiting trip or only working. This is a great opportunity to do both!

Where will you work from while you're there? A local cafe? Your apt.?

Luckily I was able to find hotels with reliable wifi. The hotel in Cabarete actually has beachfront tables with wifi so you can work with the ocean in the background and your toes in the sand.
