Teams looking for a hearty, delicious meal can't go wrong with the flavorful cuisine of the Mediterranean. Your options will vary based on the ethnicity or the owner/restaurant. Greek restaurants will serve souvlaki skewers, moussaka pies and lemon potatoes. Turkish will be kabobs and doner. There will be different types of bread, too! Greek and Israeli restaurants will likely have pita bread while Turkish restaurants might have yufka or simit. There are many options that are sure to fill the bellies of your whole team!
Make sure you take a look at the "What's Included" section of any packages you see. Beware: Some come with just rice or salad, but they might be branded as "Build Your Own Plates," when really there's nothing customizable about it considering everyone ends up with the same thing.
Buffets are a great way to cater to a large group and make sure everyone is fed, but it can be hard to estimate how much food your teammates will really eat. One way to adjust for this is to put starches at the front of the line and proteins towards the end to ensure that you don’t run out of proteins. Or you can order for slightly more than your headcount to make sure everyone will get their fill!
Remember, Tzatziki (cucumber yogurt sauce) is a popular spread for Mediterranean dishes but it is not vegan. If the restaurant offers it, tahini is a good vegan and gluten-free alternative.
Is it possible to make my order gluten-free?
Yes! Some restaurants will have a gluten-free pita but if they don’t you can always order additional sides.
What goes well with a Mediterranean, Turkish, or Greek buffet?
Many customers, especially vegetarians, enjoy sides like hummus, Greek salad and spinach pie. Souvlaki skewers are also a nice addition for those who want something different.
How should I set up the buffet?
Putting your proteins at the back of the buffet, behind other proteins and starchy foods, is a good idea. You should also make sure you have a good ratio of starches to proteins. If you’re worried that you might not have enough food, we recommend ordering 10% more than your headcount.
Will all the ingredients be mixed together?
No. To maintain the quality of the meal, hot and cold ingredients will be packaged in separate trays.
